Girona achieves the breakthrough with Pierre Oriola
Pier Oriola is not in Sarunas Jasikevicius’ plans for the upcoming season but fits perfectly into those of Aito Reneses, who invited him to Girona.
The presence of Marc Gasol and Aito Reneses has made Girona an extremely attractive destination in the Endesa Liga. Despite being a newcomer, Girona has the background to make a difference in the off-season and be brimming with talent.
Something like this is reflected in the advanced contacts with Pierre Oriola. The Barcelona captain is reportedly not counted by Sarunas Jasikevicius for next season, a fact Girona are keen to exploit. And if just a few days ago Manresa seemed the most likely destination (ss: that’s where he started his career), Girona is now listed as a big favorite for his signature.
Pierre Oriola has spent the last five years at Barcelona, celebrating winning the Liga Endesa title twice (2017, 2021) and the SuperCopa Endesa three times (2018, 2019, 2021).
