Mateus Ponitka is on the radar of Panathinaikos
The case of Poland’s Mateus Ponitka is under investigation by Panathinaikos, the player has attracted the attention of the Greens but still has a contract at Rezzo Emilia.
Mateusz Ponitka impressed with his performances at EuroBasket 2022 in the Polish jersey and confirmed for the umpteenth time the high quality and ability to offer versatility (in creation and execution). It is clear that Panathinaikos was not unknown to the athlete until recently, but recently the Cloverleaf began to investigate his case with particular zeal.
The 29-year-old regional player (he mainly plays in ‘2’ and ‘3’, although he had the role of commander of ‘1’ in Poland) has a contract with Rezzo Emilia, but that won’t likely be a problem, once the greens decide to make their last move for the athlete.
At EuroBasket 2022, Mateusz Ponitka averaged 13.4 points with 5.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists, becoming the strongest card in Igor Milicic’s hands en route to a return to the tournament’s top 4 after five decades. Incidentally, his name has also been associated in Italy with Virtus Bologna, who are still looking for one last addition to the region.
By the way, during EuroBasket 2022, Mateusz Ponitka became the third player to score a triple-double in the tournamentby Toni Kukocs in 1995 and Andrei Madake in 2017.
