The reason for Matteus Ponitka, who is the Greens’ new transfer acquisition. The Polish guard/forward, in his statements to Polish TVP Sport, said he’s looking forward to being a member of a big club, while at the same time not hiding that he didn’t expect things to take such a turn before the game started would season.
Ponitka is now wearing green for the new season, although it is possible that he will be seen at the Pavlos Giannakopoulos tournament and his new team’s match against Armani Milano in the evening (9:00 p.m., ERT3, LIVE by Sportish).
The statements of Mateus Ponitka in detail:
“I certainly didn’t expect things to turn out like this before the leagues started. We had more proposals with my agent than we had in November or December when we were considering a possible EuroLeague return. Other than that, EuroBasket has been a great success for our team and it has resulted in teams showing interest in me.
I’ve been on the phone all the time for the last three days. I’m constantly speaking on camera to fix everything and make everyone happy. We managed to end the discussions and come to an agreement.
I’m very happy to have joined such a big club. The fact that Panathinaikos has faced some difficulties over the past two years doesn’t detract from its size. They are one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Europe. Great players and coaches have gone through there in the past.
It’s nice to be part of the organization. I hope this year’s team shows that we want to go forward. The brand doesn’t need to be rebuilt from scratch, but I think that returning to success will build momentum and we’ll be able to fight and bring joy to our fans.
