Armani Milano baptizes the parquet floor Mediolanum Forum
Armani Milano honors one of the patriarchs of its long history by naming the central area of the Mediolanum Forum Cesare Rubini.
Armani Milano will play their home games at the “Cesare Rubini Court”, starting with the league game against Brescia, as announced on Wednesday (28/9).
No, the Italian team is not getting a new basketball roof. It’s just that the Mediolanum Forum floor is named after the legendary Italian player and coach who associated his name with much of Olympia’s history.
Rubini, who was born in Trieste on 02/11/1923 and died in Milan on 08/02/2011, served the club as a player from 1948 to 1957 and then sat on the bench for 16 consecutive years (1957-1973).
During this time he celebrated 15 championships and three European cups and won a total of 501 national victories. He is described by the title “the Prince”.
Rubini was also manager of the Italian national team and combined his tenure with the great successes of the 80s (silver at the Olympic Games in Moscow, gold at the Eurobasket in Nantes, bronze at the Eurobasket in Stuttgart). He was inducted into both the USA Basketball and the FIBA Hall of Fame. He was also an avid water polo player, also being inducted into their Hall of Fame in 2000.
