Kaunas’ bid to organize the 2023 EuroLeague Final Four was confirmed by Zalgiris GM Paulius Motiegiounas in a press conference.

As Istanbul loses ground to host the 2023 EuroLeague Final Four, other European countries are being considered to host the event. One of them is Kaunas, Lithuania, where Zalgiris GM Paulius Motiegiounas confirms that an application for the event has been submitted.

As he said in a press conference, “We as a club will benefit, but it will be a great festival of basketball in Lithuania.”

“We believe that the most important thing is to have a business and to organize a big sporting event. We don’t want to just have expenses and no income. According to data from previous Final Fours, about 10,000 people can come. Certainly not.” only in Kaunas, but in all surrounding areas. People will be here for about four days and according to calculations they will spend about 3.7 million euros.”

We remind you that the other cities that fell on the table are Belgrade (the city that hosted the 2022 Final Four) in Serbia, along with Cologne (which committed to hosting the 2022 Final Four but didn’t take place) or Berlin in Germany.

There is currently no final decision on the matter, but the difference from other years is that this time it is the 13 shareholders who will decide on the seat of the Final Four, while previously it was Jordi Bertomeu who made the decision.
