Finally, Maccabi’s Seiropoulos
Giannis Sfeiropoulos is a former Maccabi Tel Aviv bench player, with Hapoel Tel Aviv Cup semi-final disqualification his swan song in the team.
Giannis Sfeiropoulos is no longer Maccabi’s coach. The “People’s Team” announced his release, with the exclusion of Hapoel Jerusalem in the semi-finals of the cup and the reactions of the following people leading to this decision.
The veteran coach was in an awkward position after the side’s poor results in December and the management backed him. However, this support was lost after Maccabi’s expulsion from the cup and Maccabi’s image, although the fact that a VIDEO was released a few hours after the match showing Nanali, Reynolds and Williams partying in a club certainly didn’t help.
“The owners met Giannis Sfeiropoulos today and concluded that the manager should step down from his duties.says Maccabi’s announcement, which speaks flatteringly about the veteran coach and the way he has developed the squad’s young players. He was joined by his long-time direct collaborator Vassilis Geragotelis.
Giannis Sfeiropoulos has been on the Maccabi bench since November 2018, replacing Neven Spahias at the time. During his presence, the “People’s Team” won three consecutive championships (2019, 2020 and 2021), one cup and two league cups, with the Greek coach changing his image. However, this season did not develop as expected in Maccabi, Sfeiropoulos paid the ‘Marble’ for his poor progress.
