War in Ukraine: Marius Grigonis is reportedly under pressure to leave CSKA Moscow
According to a Russian publication, Marius Grigonis is being pressured by Lithuania to terminate his contract with CSKA Moscow and leave the “army team”.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused a backlash (and) in the sports arena, with CSKA Moscow being one of the EuroLeague teams dealing with a very difficult situation.
As early as Saturday morning, February 26, there were reports of Tornike Sengelia and the possibility of him leaving Russia, at least temporarily. However, the veteran striker is not the only one who has seen his name in the media.
The same happened with Marius Grigonis, about whom there was a Russian article that speaks of a high probability of divorce with the “army group”. Specifically, Metaratings claims that the 27-year-old security guard is being pressured by the Lithuanian government to “break” his contract.
No further details are given (at least not in the first year), but it seems a fairly likely scenario given that Lithuania’s relations with Russia are known to have been less than best for a number of years.
We remind you that Marius Grigonis moved to CSKA Moscow last summer and signed a multi-year contract with Dimitris Itoudis’ team.
