Triumph in Serbia for Villeurbanne youth team, who beat Red Star at home (80-73) and won Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Belgrade.
A day after the shock defeat to Vassilis Spanoulis’ Next Gen Belgrade, Villarreal stood on their own two feet, defeating the Red Star 80-73 and winning the Adidas Next Generation Tournament of the EuroLeague in Belgrade.
The team of Pierre Parker, Tony and TJ Parker’s brother, absorbed heaps of energy on the Basket City floor and their defense drowned out the Serbs, who advanced to the finals undefeated (3-0) in the group stage. Third was Tofas, who defeated Vassilis Spanoulis’ Next Gen Belgrade, fifth was Valencia, who defeated Mega 101-74, and seventh was Lietkabelis with an impressive 95-79 against Partizan.
