Anadolu Efes – Fenerbahce 84-79: Big Bobua clears with Larkin

Rodrigo Boboa and Shane Larkin gave an incredible crescendo in the final minutes to lead Anadolu Efes to a magnificent home win (84-79) over Fenerbahce.

The Istanbul derby for the 28th game of EuroLeague between Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce was 30 minutes walk away. In the fourth third, the guests stepped on the gas pedal and won the match, but in the final Rodrigo Bobois’ class spoke and scored in spurts to the 84:79 of the European champion.

At 14:12 Ergin Atman’s team (10:3 home and 4:9 away) rolled over, at 12:13 the team of Aleksandar Djordjevic (9:3 home and 3:10 away), who made an impressive performance showed differences but didn’t make a few defenses to secure the win that would finally set it on course.

The race

Efes got off to an incredible start, leading by eight (12-4) after three minutes thanks to 2/2 two points, 2/3 three points and 2/2 shots. Nanto de Colo kept Fenerbahce close with five consecutive points (19-14 in 8′), but the hosts’ dominance was complete in the first half. The guests finished the twentieth minute with 7/23 two points and 2/13 three points (so 9/36 shots), they had only six assists, they could not limit Vassilien Mitsic (14 points in 14 minutes) and could not do it at all all with consistency and duration.

Efes’ momentum was impressive, no matter how hard Nando de Colo pushed, he couldn’t catch up, Pierre assisted the Frenchman towards the end of the third period, but the difference didn’t fall below 11. A small 5-0 early in the quarter gave the hosts again a 16-point lead (64:48), whereupon Fenerbahce reacted with stubbornness and determination for the first time. A 2-15 led to 66-63, with Bobois setting a big three for 69-63 and another for 72-67, keeping the European champion even at close range.

Pierre cut to the point with a nice move (74-73) but Boboa was there again for a three (77-73), Booker cut to two (77-75 in 39′) but Larkin made a crazy shot for that 80-75, which finally decided the game.
