CSKA Moscow have reached an agreement with Tornike Sengelia to sack the 30-year-old Großmann, who can now sign for Virtus Bologna.

The biggest hurdle to Tornike Sengelia joining Virtus Bologna was cleared on the afternoon of 7 March when CSKA Moscow announced the 30-year-old forward’s amicable contract termination.

Tornike Sengelia was one of the first players in the ‘army team’ that clearly sided with Ukraine after the Russian invasion, leaving even Moscow unharmed. The rift between the two sides was unbridgeable, CSKA Moscow and the player’s side reached the much-coveted compromise to go their separate ways from now on.

The contract, which was initially valid until the summer of 2024, was thus terminated, and Tornike Sengelias is now free to sign for any team. In this case Virtus Bologna, who had appealed to him from the start, as with Daniel Hackett.

The positive for the Italian club is that within the next 24 hours they manage to declare the 30-year-old big for the EuroCup, making him available for the rest of this season.

Tornike Sengelia stayed at the MegaSport Arena for a year and a half, with 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the EuroLeague.
