Bartzokas: “We’re fourth in the EuroLeague, with or without the Russian teams”
George Bartzokas declined to comment on the decision not to take into account the results with Russia in the EuroLeague, stressing that Olympiacos are in the top four anyway.
Olympiakos didn’t need to step on the gas to beat Iraklis as both sides took part in a game that lost interest before it even started.
After the forty-minute finale, George Bartzokas said to the ERT camera: “Iraklis started tonight with seven players, five professionals and two juniors. Obviously the whole atmosphere was that the game was procedural in nature. Of course we had to play hard again in the third quarter, it turned out again that you don’t win a game before that“.
Asked about the decision made in the EuroLeague not to calculate the results with the Russian teams, the Olympiakos coach said: “We were fourth with the Russian teams, we’re still fourth without them. Whether we finish better or worse in the table will be seen after the five crucial games that lie ahead of us, starting with Kaunas. We have a difficult program and energy management is important. In the EuroLeague now it looks like teams that aren’t under pressure are playing well because they have nothing to lose at the moment. They win often and are competitive“.
