Looking ahead to the derby with Panathinaikos OPAP (March 17, 9:00 p.m., Novasports Prime, Match Center at Sportish), Costas Sloukas was in the power of SEF for the EuroLeague.

Olympiacos’ first goal in the EuroLeague has been achieved: the Reds and Whites are already in the playoffs. Now George Bartzokas’ team is looking for something more, namely home field advantage, to have one more reason to hope for a return to the Final Four.

With four games left before the end of the regular season, the derby with Panathinaikos OPAP (March 17, 9:00 p.m., Novasports Prime, Match Center at Sportish) is of particular importance for Olympiacos.

Speaking about the meeting with the Greens at the SEF media day, Costas Sloukas explained: “We’re leaving all the games behind us and that with Zalgiris to focus on a special game against Panathinaikos who is the eternal opponent and of course this game will always be special“.

As for tactics being the key in this game, he said: “Tactics always play a role in a game, but will, determination, a clear head and decisions play a bigger role. Home also matters, but in recent years we’ve gotten used to the fact that the games between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos don’t matter that much. I believe that tomorrow will play a very important role and with the help of our people we want to win another EuroLeague“.

In conclusion, he clarified whether the trip to Kaunas caused fatigue: “It’s difficult, but it’s no excuse. That’s why our presidents provide us with planes, charter flights that allow us to return home immediately to rest. We have a day off, we have to use it and work as much as possible because, as I said, tomorrow is a game with special features. An always special game Olympiacos – Panathinaikos“.
