On Wednesday night, March 23, Olympiacos will play a crucial game in the race for home advantage. A few hours before the game against Monaco, Sportish records the scenarios for the final ranking of the red and white in the regular season.

With three games to go before the end of the regular season (plus a number of postponed games), Olympiakos play a crucial game against Monaco to give them home advantage in the playoffs.

The Red and Whites, who have been in superb form over the last month, saw Real Madrid and Armani Milano lose on Tuesday night, giving them reason to believe they are second in the regular season Table place can climb finals.

To be precise, based on the data obtained from the games of the first court of the 31st game, Olympiakos can finish from 1st to 6th place in EuroLeague regular season.

What does it take to find him at the top of the rankings in the end?

  • Barcelona lose all remaining games against Fenerbahce (home), Olympiakos (away) and Maccabi Tel Aviv (home).
  • Real Madrid lost twice in their three games against Maccabi Tel Aviv (away), Panathinaikos OPAP (home) and Bayern Munich (home).
  • Armani Milano loses one of the four remaining games with Anadolu Efes (out), Bayern Munich (in), Monaco (in) and Villeurbanne (out).

It’s not the most likely combination, but it’s not impossible. It’s certainly not about first place in Piraeus, as the Major should ensure home advantage in every respect. Possibly a position that Anadolu Efes won’t get off the ground considering the European champions seem to have a significant lead at No. 5 in the rankings.

From there, in order to reach 2nd place, Olympiacos will want two wins more than Real Madrid (playing away with Maccabi and then inside with Panathinaikos OPAP and Bayern). In that case, Olympiacos will overtake Pablo Lasso’s team.

As for Armani Milano? Giorgos Bartzokas’ side have already surpassed Ettore Messina’s (they are now 16-8 after the defeat in Tel Aviv). The “Reds” have games with Anadolu Efes (away), Bayern Munich (home), Monaco (home) and Villeurbanne (away).

The overall picture shows that Olympiacos is 3/3 at worst 3rd in the regular season.

On the other hand, there is a… catastrophic scenario (based on what we saw above), the one involving three consecutive losses in the regular-season final, by Monaco (out), Villeurbanne (out) and Barcelona ( in). In that case, Olympiacos can drop to 6th place, assuming of course that everyone below wins. But that’s a scenario that can easily be scrapped once and for all as long as George Bartzokas’ players get the double at the Salle Gaston Medecin.

The Score (31st game in progress)

  2. Real Madrid 18-7
