EuroLeague, Olympiakos: Olympiakos wants the home win, Armani Milano is the favorite in third place
Olympiakos are now closer to 4th place and home field advantage in the EuroLeague playoffs after Anadolu Efes’ loss to Armani Milan with the Greek-Turkish clash just around the corner. The 3rd place for the red and white was difficult.
Armani Milano’s win over Anadolu Efes has largely settled Olympiacos and home advantage. Now the Red-Whites need a win in the remaining two games to get into the top four, but at the same time they are further away from 3rd place.
Olympiakos will therefore have to beat either Astroballe against Villeurbanne on Friday 25 March (21:00, Novasports Prime) or Barcelona on Friday 1 April at SEF. Anadolu Efes who “committed suicide” cannot match him with 1/2 and will hardly be able to hope for anything better than 5th place.
On the other hand, in order to stay out of the top four, Olympiacos needs to be defeated in both games and at the same time Anantolou Efes needs to win all their own games to the end.
So everything shows the opposition of Olympiacos with Anantolou Efes in the playoffs, with the Red and Whites having a home advantage.
On the other hand, 3rd place isn’t lost permanently, but for Olympiacos to have hope they absolutely need to make 2/2 and Armani Milano has to lose a game. It’s not unlikely, but now everything depends on the Italian team, which, if they don’t lose by the end of the regular season, will definitely take 3rd place in the standings.
By the way, if Olympiakos makes it to 2/2, it can even climb to 2nd place if Real Madrid lose in all remaining games at the same time – playing with Maccabi Tel Aviv (outside), Panathinaikos OPAP (inside) and Bayern (inside) and Armani Milano lost two games.
The Olympiacos draw with:
- 1-1 at Real Madrid (down due to points difference)
- Armani Milan is 2-0
- 1-1 at Anantolo Efes (down due to points difference)
- It’s 2-0 at Bayern Munich
- 1-1 at Maccabi Tel Aviv (superior due to points difference)
