Pablo Lasso pointed to the superiority of Panathinaiko’s OPAP on OAKA’s ground and explained what needs to change for Real Madrid in the final of the season.

Real Madrid lost to Panathinaikos OPAP for the first time in four years, for the seventh time in their last nine EuroLeague games and somehow… tangled up in what has to do with 2nd place in the rankings. Of course, Pablo Lasso was not only satisfied with the result and what happened in OAKA on the night of Thursday, March 31st.

Details of what Pablo Lasso said:

In general, Panathinaikos played better than us. Sometimes sport is so simple. The game was nice for the world to watch with good odds for both teams, but for me I think we can play a lot better. As Real Madrid coach, I believe we can play better. I don’t want to “cut” anything from Panathinaikos’ victory, but for us I think we can do better“.

When asked what could change for Real Madrid as it was after the recent defeat against Panathinaikos (ss: then the ‘queen’ took the trophy: “Every time I think about the team in my head. Of course there are the players, each one individually. When the players play better, the team is better. What does that mean. Am I happy because someone played well or because someone played badly? Maybe the one who played badly did his job and that will help the team. Everyone has to do their job, which means concentration right from the start, without making stupid mistakes. Do what makes you a good team. Today I can say that we got 39 rebounds, we had 14/28 threes (we had good percentages). But that is not important. The most important thing is how we play as a team and what we do as a whole. A lot has changed since then, we are a different team.

In this game they killed us (ss: refers to the -28 written by the “Queen” in the first game of the 2017-18 playoffs). Sometimes it has nothing to do with the screen you’re making or anything else. It has to do with the team. That’s important to me, that’s what I think about the future. We’re looking for the best possible placement, but if we’re not playing as a team it doesn’t matter who we’re playing against“.
