Panathinaikos announced the takeover of the Serbian point guard Stefan Jovic (31, 1:98), with whom he has signed a contract until the end of the season with an extension option for the next season.

It is worth noting that in the first phase, Stefan Jovic is not considered possible to join the Stoiximan Basket League squad (the Greens already have foreigners in the squad), although he only has the right to participate in the EuroLeague. At least until later and given his long abstinence.

Stefan Jovic last played on June 30, 2021 in the game Serbia against the Dominican Republic for the pre-Olympic tournament in Belgrade. He played 23 minutes with 2 points with 1/2 two points and 0/1 three points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 errors and 1 steal.

Jovic was born on November 3, 1990 in Nis, Serbia and is 1.98 m tall. and competes in position “1”.

He took his first steps in his home team and wore the Sloga jersey from 2010 to 2012. He then moved to Radnicki, where he stayed for two seasons. There he managed to show his talent, with the result that Crvena Zvezda MTS Belgrade acquired him. Jovic wore the Belgrade team’s jersey from 2014 to 2017.

In fact, in his first season there (2014-2015), he managed to win the ABA league, the championship and the Serbian Cup. At the same time he received the baptism of fire in the EuroLeague with an average of 2.9 points, 2.8 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game.

The following year, on November 12, 2015, he set the record with the most assists per game in the Euroleague (19) in the away game against FC Bayern Munich. He finished the 2015-2016 season with an average of 7 points and an average of 5.7 assists in top European competition between clubs.

At the same time he became MVP of the final of the ABA League 2015-16 and again won the title and the Serbian championship with Crvena Zvezda.

In the third and final year of his presence in the Serbian team, he again won the ABA league as well as the national championship and the cup. He also played in the Euroleague with an average of 7.5 points and 5.6 assists.

On July 14, 2017, Jovic signed a two-year contract with FC Bayern Munich. In his first season with the club, he won the German championship with an average of 7.4 points and 5.3 assists. In the EuroCup he played 15 games and scored 5.3 points and 5.6 assists per game.

In the 2018/19 season he again celebrated conquering the Bundesliga, with the German team averaging 6.3 points and 4.8 assists in 35 games. In the Euroleague he averaged 8.3 points and 4.6 assists in 23 games.

On July 17, 2019, Jovic signed a contract with the Russian Khimki. As the team’s main playmaker, he averaged 7.6 points and 4.2 assists per game in the Euroleague.

In the 2020/21 season, the Russian team had a lot of financial problems and Jovic left the club in the middle of the year.

From an early age he was a member of all national teams of Serbia and won the silver medal at the Mediterranean Games in 2013 and the bronze medal in the University Games in 2013.

With the men’s national team he was in the top moments of “Plavi” and won two silver medals at the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.

“Jovic also represented Serbia at Eurobasket 2017, where he won the silver medal after losing the last game against Slovenia.”
