Come see Alec Peters, Sasha

Olympiacos wiped out Zalgiris and Vassilis Skoundis takes his third win in a row…

For centuries we have been taught that the beginning is half of everything, but – to paraphrase the title of Luigi Pirandello’s play – it is not so if we believe it!

At least that wasn’t the case in Neo Faliro, where Olympiacos got their third win in a row and now, whatever it rains, let it rain!

It really rained, and by that I don’t mean the weather, but the storm from the three-pointers, which was also a very relative case: the Piraeus seemed more or less hypnotized and, moreover, they were not lively, they started with 1 /7 and 2/10 of that, but when the final horn sounded they showed 15/29!

The Trojan Horse and Fals Dreier

Those 15 three-pointers were made by just five players, but (I think) the most important hit came neither from the moonstruck Isaiah Kanan, who set a EuroLeague career record, nor from Peters, who gained speed after the departure of Sasha Vezenkov , executed like Klay Thompson, nor Thomas Walkup, nor Ignas Brazdeikis, nor Giannoulis Larentzakis…

The most significant of these was achieved by a player who scored a total of two points!

I mean Mustafa Fal, who played the role of the Trojan Horse in the attack on Olympiakos and destroyed the castle (not of Troy, but) of Zalgiris!

As long as Kazis Maksvitis insisted on countering the French center with traps and double teams, he behaved unselfishly and instead of trying to penetrate the wall, he passed the ball left and right, which led to the creation of the so-called surplus on the sides of the red and white attack.

Butter on red sponge cake

I now often hear this word in the broadcasts of football matches, I used to know the above-mentioned player in water polo and in any case, this obsessive strategy of the Lithuanian coach became the butter with which Olympiacos spread its bread.

His bread, made overnight, became sponge cake, as one of Fal’s compatriots, the infamous Marie Antoinette, said!

Olympiakos struggled in the first half as they failed to find a rhythm and saw Zalgiris gnawing at their neck, but they should unlock him and create the conditions to build the momentum that two former players of the Lithuanian team were longing for. ..

Five consecutive points from Brazdeikis and a 3-pointer from Walkup in the Cap gave the Piraeus the boost they needed and a 14-0 run solidified their dominance, leading to a 42-27 lead and never looking back.

Rejoice with such a hand and be glad

This 14-0 was the brainchild of a successive five-man team that included Kanan, Brazdeikis, Sikma, Fal and Walkup, who, while his teammates shot at Karagiozis’ goal from 6:75 minutes (2/11), had eloquently given him four times out of six!

Well, then the others found their hand and as my clever colleague Nikos Katsaros once said: “Rejoice with such a hand”.

When the three dots looked like snails walking after the rain, then what was mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew was also confirmed…

“Rejoice and be glad”!

The astonishing 4:1 at Relationship

The joy and jubilation of Olympiacos comes not only from the victory against Zalgiris, but also from the way it came about and from its various supporters…

  • The 15/29 3-pointers were certainly the fiery battering ram he used to torch the Zalgiris defense, who I maintain were naive about false doubles, but damn!

  • Analytical statistics experts argue that a ratio of 2:1 is an outstanding achievement, but Olympiacos went 4:1, providing 23 assists and committing just six errors!

And the cake is right and the dog is full

  • Even when he seemed caught, out of rhythm, sluggish and in a bad mood in the first quarter, he didn’t let the Lithuanians escape the score, leading by only four points and it was only a matter of time before he sniffed it … blood and strangled her, and it came to pass.

  • Even though he had internally cultivated his goal of strengthening the defense, at the end of the day he confirmed the saying that says: “and the cake is right and the dog is full”: He has eaten up to four times less than he accepts and has eaten eleven times more than his average!

“Euge” by Bartzokas and Sasha’s shoes

  • So undeniable was his superiority, so convincing was his dominance and so clear what was happening in the game that George Bartzokas received no questions at the subsequent press conference and, because he is usually besieged regardless of the result, he celebrated by shouting: “Well done”! The “Well done” I imagine he would have said it earlier in the locker room…

Instead of another epilogue, I dare to unleash my tirade, which may not even be such a tirade: Given that Olympiacos has now played ten games in the Euroleague, apart from the remnants within the Greek walls, I dare say that Alec Peters should not do this I am ashamed to say that his feet fit into the shoes that Sasha Vezhenkov left in the locker room and that they do not float there and that he does not need double soles to walk in them!

Let’s count!

“That’s also in my papers.”as the late Dimitris Tsovolas once shouted from the steps of Parliament… Last year, the EuroLeague regular season MVP and current Kings forward averaged 17.6 points with a 37.8% three-point percentage -Throws, 6.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, one foul and 21.5 points in the rating index…

This season, Peters is averaging 16.3 points, 53.5% on three-pointers, 5.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.3 turnovers and 19 scoring points.

The same player (Peters de) averaged 4.6 points, 2.5 rebounds and 41.1% on 3-pointers last year and went almost unnoticed, but now he’s hurting you and slaughtering you!
