Panathinaikos AKTOR took two steps forward and one step back in Belgrade
The aftertaste of the Belgrade game is bittersweet for Panathinaikos AKTOR. Two steps forward and one step back in the same night from the players of Ergin Ataman. Alexandros Trigas writes.
Panathinaikos AKTOR’s third overtime loss in the EuroLeague this year could be more painful than the previous ones (by Olympiakos and Maccabi Tel Aviv in OAKA). The biggest demand for Ergin Ataman is instant scoring. And that’s exactly what he did – sometimes with too much boldness – in the Stark Arena. His effort may be alien compared to the way Panathinaikos attacks AKTOR in the rest, but his talent and resistance to contact are undeniable elements. Especially when this overall package is combined with the defensive system.
It’s not common for a player coming out of the NBA with the label of “high-volume scorer” to push the ball so hard and be so interested in what’s happening in the back of the court.
