Baskonia have sidelined Nico Mannion and Gianmarco Ponceco is giving his compatriot a lifeline to include him in the Villeurbanne squad.

Baskonia is looking for ways to reshuffle the squad on the periphery and Nicos Magnion is expected to leave in the near future. The 22-year-old guard was unable to adapt to the situations and actually help the Spanish team, as his numbers show (6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per 13’47” participation).

This is exactly why Dusko Ivanovic has told him that he can put himself on the market to find the next stage of his career. Who will he be? Most likely Villerban.

The presence of his compatriot Gianmarco Ponceco in the French team’s technical leadership plays a crucial role in completing such a move, with BasketNews explaining that Villeurbanne is the favorite to sign the former Virtus Bologna player.

Of course, whatever happens in the next few days, it is worth noting that he will not have the right to participate until the end of 2023, when the first round of the EuroLeague regular season ends.
