Bisang: “The diverse reactions, starting with Olympiakos, moved me”
The referee Joseph Bisang, who demanded that a racist attack on his face by a fan be noted on the Olympiacos – Valencia match report, spoke about the incident and mentioned, among other things, that the diverse reactions, starting from that of the red-and-white KAE, moved him.
In the EuroLeague game between Olympiacos and Valencia, referee Joseph Bisang demanded that a fan’s racist attack on his face be noted on the scoresheet.
The red-and-white KAE immediately responded by condemning the incident and expelling the fan in question from the Peace and Friendship Stadium, while the organizing authority did not open a file on the case and Olympiacos faces no punishment.
Bisang spoke for the first time after the incident on “RMC,” where he acknowledged the Piraeus team’s response, saying: “I was moved by the diverse reactions, starting with Olympiacos.”
He also stated: “This phenomenon, this scourge, is unfortunately a reflection of society that is transferred to the playing fields. I was faced with a situation, but we are all victims. My job as a referee is to make decisions about a situation.”
