Maccabi Tel Aviv had the answers against Baskonia, which they defeated 89-81 and moved them to last place in the EuroLeague standings. The Israelis are now 9:6, the Basques are 8:7.

Maccabi Tel Aviv and Baskonia had the same record until their EuroLeague duel and it was the Israelis who defeated the Basques with an 89-81 win.

The game was close until the final, but an 8-0 run that turned 81-79 into 89-79 turned the tide for Maccabi. With 9:6 the Katas team lost to the Spaniards with 8:7.

Great game from Josh Nimbo with 17 points and 8 rebounds. The first scorer for Baskonia is Marcus Howard with 19 points, an excellent result from Tadas Sedekerskis with 15 points and 11 rebounds.


The race

The game between Maccabi Tel Aviv and Baskonia was a real derby, with the two teams delivering point for point from the start. The Israelis found points through Webb, Baldwin, Sorkin, Niebo and Colson, while the Spanish had Marcus Howard up front and worthy supporters in Sendekerskis and Marinkovics. The Basques ended the half with +2.
