Basketball justice punished Eli Okombo: the missed shot that led to Grigonis’ three-pointer
Eli Okobo was Monaco’s unlucky man on Wednesday evening (December 20th), the basketball gods punished him for his missed shot.
Extra time was nearing its end. The score was 88-88 and Monaco was in full attack. Mike James was tripped by Gerryan Grant, the ball fell into the hands of Eli Okobo and the French guard knew he had to tackle Luka Vildosa. He did, put it in the basket, won the foul and had a chance at the +3.
With 2.5 on the clock, Okobo thought it best to miss the extra shot so Panathinaikos didn’t have time to rebound, attack and execute in good conditions. Only he missed in annoying fashion, allowing the Greens to take their final timeout, get the ball across half the pitch and have enough time to take the shot. This was finally achieved by Marius Grigonis, who hit the target and gave his team a big victory.
