Maccabi foreigners decide not to return to Israel after game against Red Star
Their decision not to return to Israel was communicated to Maccabi’s management by the team’s players, with the Tel Aviv club fielding only Israeli players in the next two domestic league games.
After the end of Maccabi Tel Aviv’s EuroLeague game against Red Star, the foreign players of Katas’ team announced to the team management their decision not to return to Israel.
The news was announced by the club, which then stated that the team would compete exclusively with athletes from Israel in the next two games of the national championship.
As Sport5 reported, the players demanded assurances that the money deducted from their salaries (a 15% cut) would be refunded to them in the future, but were not satisfied with the meeting with the team’s administrative director Shimon Mizrahi.
Maccabi, which plays its EuroLeague games in Belgrade, lost to Red Star on matchday 16 of the competition on Thursday evening (December 21).
