Mike James: Half foot on the touchline in the third period’s buzzer beater, but the umpires didn’t take it lightly
Mike James made many big and difficult shots against Bayern, one of them in the third period final. Only he put his … half foot on the touchline.
Mike James was at his best in the Audi Dome and led Monaco to a big away win against Bayern. The French main point guard made many great shots (especially in the second half), didn’t let the fact that there was always a hand in front of him discourage him, and caused irreparable damage to the German defense.
One of those big shots came at the end of the third period when he sidestepped as much of Othello Hunter’s cover as needed and scored for a three-pointer.
Only in this phase did he step onto the sidelines with half his left foot. Violation of the rules that the referees (but also Bayern Bank) did not see, which is why they counted the three points.
