A great Prometheus at the EuroCup premiere and a comfortable away win against Trento
Prometheus was great in Italy, beating Trento 89-76 and convincingly progressing to the 2022/23 EuroCup.
This year’s Prometheus isn’t kidding. He needs time to gain consistency and automation, but with the picture he had in Italy on Wednesday evening (12/10), he made big promises. Makis Giatras’ team easily defeated Trento (89-76) on Day 1 of the EuroCup, with Greek coach Joe Young, Travis Simpson and Arnoldas Kulboka watching them accomplish things and wonders.
Prometheus’ big-three finished the game with 60 points (13/16 2-pointers, 8/18 3-pointers, 11/14 shots) and 21 rebounds, with the Achaeans shooting an impressive 66% at 2-pointers (25/ 38) and positive sign in assists/errors ratio (16/11).
Prometheus was entertaining in the first part. He ended the 20 minutes evenly balanced at +14 (43-29), with Kulboka having 12 points and 8 rebounds and Young having 10 points. Yatras saw a good two-pointer percentage (65%), he generally saw his team play with quality and Muratos scored a three-pointer for 55-69 at the end of the third period. From that point on, the Patrinos never looked back, never gave up rights and were never challenged by the home side.
In addition to Trento and Promethea, Group B also features Hapoel Tel Aviv, Paris Basketball, Buduchnost, Gran Canaria, Hamburg, Slask Wroclaw, Telekom Ankara and London Lions.
