Prometheus left Turk Telecom in Makis Yatras’ Goodbye

In the last game of Makis Giatras on his bench, Prometheus lost to Turk Telecom (83:98) and fell back 4:2 after the 6th day of the EuroCup.

It wasn’t the easiest game of the regular season and as if that wasn’t enough, it was also a game with strong emotions. On Tuesday evening (November 29th) Prometheus welcomed Turk Telecom to the 6th day of the EuroCup, they fought, but lost in the last game to Makis Giatras (83:98), who is leaving the Patras team due to a personal problem.

Prometheus fell to 4-2 (2-1 home and 2-1 away), Turk Telecom rose to 5-1 (2-1 home and 3-0 away) that arrived in the capital Achaia on Sunday and saw watch the game between Achaia and Olympiakos for the Basket League.

Joe Young was Prometheus’ top scorer with 30 points, Arnoldas Kulboka the second standout, but beyond that the hosts lacked the depth and quality to bring the Turks to the canvas. Gerryan Grant, Axel Bouteig and Tyreek Jones did a great job for Erdem Can’s Turk Telekom.

The race

With 10 points from Jerian Grant in the first quarter (5-15), Turk Telecom dominated the game early. Prometheus chased, but didn’t let the gap drop to excessive levels. It finished the quarter 17-27, it was reduced to four (25-29) early in the second, but again the Turks had the answers to hold the lead through halftime (36-44) where they went 50th / 36/86 in two-pointers/three-pointers/shots and ten assists for five turnovers.

The eruption of Prometheus took place at the beginning of the second part. Yang and Simpson reduced to two with long shots (46-48), but Turk Telecom was again in impressive form, extending a double-digit lead again with Axel Bouteig scoring ten straight points. He went into the fourth quarter with a seven-point lead, going 69-80 as the home side tried to push and driving to victory, a fair win over a Prometheus doing his best.
