Jaka Lakovic put an end to the scenarios and declared his allegiance to Gran Canaria
During the interview he gave to Radio Marca, Jaka Lakovic declared his allegiance to Gran Canaria and the programming made with the Spanish club.
From the moment he left Barcelona Academy and started working as a head coach, Jaka Lakovic has steadily made a name for himself. The 44-year-old coach built Ulm’s building (from 2019-22) and sent Killian Hayes to the 2020 NBA draft with the results fully vindicating him.
Somehow Gran Canaria trusted him last summer and it has been confirmed. The great course he wrote with the Spanish team didn’t take long to put his name in transfer scenarios involving two teams he served as a player for: Panathinaikos and Barcelona.
However, in an interview he gave to Radio Marca on Friday 24 February, Jaka Lakovic made sure he ‘cuts off’ any exit scenario. “Gran Canaria is the ideal club and place for me and my family at the moment. I have no reason not to want to stay, to continue here and to fight for success with the club‘ he said characteristically.
Incidentally, there have already been reports in Spain documenting Gran Canaria’s intention to extend his contract early until the summer of 2025.
