Doverioglou is taking a break from basketball, devastated by the loss of relatives in the devastating earthquake
Bursaspor announced the – by mutual agreement – terminated cooperation with Ahmet Duverioglu. The former Fenerbahce European champions have announced he will be away from the pitch for some time to deal with his emotions following the loss of loved ones in the recent devastating earthquake.
Turkey is still suffering from February’s deadly earthquakes and Ahmet Duverioglu, like many athletes in the neighboring country, is trying to cope with his emotions at the loss of loved ones. The 29-year-old center and former European champion with Fenerbahce (EuroiLeague 2017) has reached an amicable contract termination with Bursapor.
As he himself explained in his emotional message, he needs a break from sport to get over the shock and pain, from the death of his grandmother and cousin to the deadly earthquakes. “Nice to meet you all. Because of the situation I’m in, I need to stop playing basketball for a while and find myself. Love you all, I wish you the best of luck for the rest of the season and may our paths cross again in the future.” were Doverioglou’s parting words, while Bursaspor posted an emotional post on Twitter.
