Reratsa: ‘I see Obradovic with Smilagic and I remember myself’
Zeljko Rebraca spoke on Serbian TV and explained how Zelimir Obradovic’s relationship with Allen Smilagic developed.
Zeljko Rebratsa was one of the… lucky ones as he has worked alongside Zelimir Obradovic for several years and celebrated conquering many titles – including the Thessaloniki EuroLeague. So he knows very well what everything the Partizan coach means.
He pointed this out while speaking on Serbian TV, preferring to defy Allen Smajlagic and the relationship the tall 21-year-old has built with his coach.
“Zeliko has been a big part of my career. We were together two years at Partizan, two years at Benetton and another two years at Panathinaikos, plus Ethniki. He’s always brought out the best in me, in the toughest way of course, because that’s the only way‘ Zeliko Rebratsa first explained, only to add:
“This year I watched some Partizan games up close and saw him approach and yell at Allen Smilagic. I can tell you it reminds me of myself and what he did to me. This process will help Allen because I think he has great potential to become a great player“.
This season, Allen Smilagic has made his debut as a professional in Europe with 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.5 steals per 22 minutes in the ABA League – he spent three years in USA, wore the Golden State Warriors jersey 29 times.
