Aris lost the fight against Lietkabelis in Lithuania, but Blumbergs also lost due to injury
Aris also failed to celebrate his first win of the year in Lithuania, losing 84:74 to Lietkambelis on matchday 2 of the EuroCup. Robert Bloombergs had to retire injured in the second third.
Aris suffered its third consecutive defeat this year. After a negative result against Gran Canaria in the EuroCup opener and against Olympiakos in the first game of the Basket League, the yellow-blacks of Thessaloniki lost 84:74 to Lietkampelis in Lithuania, in a game in which Robert Blumbergs left the second with an injury Period. Yannis Kastritis was sent off with two technical penalties with 2’56” to go.

The race
Aris led 7:9 after 2:13 minutes, but Lietkambelis responded with an 11:0 run and scored a double score (18:9) after 4:33. With five points collected by Silvio de Souza and two by Vassilis Toliopoulos, the yellow-blacks came close to -3 (18-15, 7′), which also represented the difference at the end of the quarter (23-20, 10′).
With their good defense as a weapon, Yannis Kastritis’ team not only made up the lost ground, but also overtook them 25:26 at 12:30. Midway through the second period, the home team took the reins again with a 31:26 lead. After one point, Robert Blumbergs injured his left ankle after Gendiminas Orelik left him with no space on a 3-pointer on the landing roller. The Aris player was knocked off the ground while the Lietkampelis player was charged with an unsportsmanlike foul.
Vassilis Toliopoulos took the three shots and made it 31:29. Silvio de Souza equalized (31-31, 16′), but the Lithuanians went to the locker room +7 (43-36, 20′) and used their accuracy from distance (7/12 three-pointers, 58.3% ), in contrast to the Greek team, which acted extremely imprecisely both from a distance (2/12 twos) and from close range (13/27 twos).
Aris found three three-pointers from Toliopoulos, Bohorides and Galinat and got a basket in the 25th minute (51-49). But even then he was unable to gain control of the game. Somehow Lietkambelis escaped with 8 points (61-53) in the 28th minute. Vassilis Toliopoulos scored 19 personal points with a goal foul and a three-pointer and kept Aris in contention for the game (61-59, 30th).
Lietkambelis started the final half with an 8-0 run, gaining a double-digit lead (69-59, 33’13”) and largely clinching the game. It should be noted that Yiannis Kastritis at 2’56” before The player who competed in the final was sent off with two consecutive technical penalties.

Aris was removed from Turk Telecom after a triumphant double qualification in Ankara
A great victory in Ankara for Aris, who won 95-85 against Turk Telecom and took a decisive step towards qualification for the next phase of the EuroCup.
Aris celebrated its third away win in the EuroCup on Tuesday evening (December 19th) when it won the 12th game of the competition with 95:85 against Turk Telecom.
The yellow and black team improved to 5-7 and took a big step forward as they now have two wins in as many games against the Turkish team, which in turn fell to 3-9. The next opponent is Slask in Alexandrio, a game that Aris will have to endure to get even closer to the round of 16 of the EuroCup.
Vassilis Toliopoulos was once again Aris’ leader in both execution and creation, with Roberts Blumbergs showing how important he is to this year’s squad and Gallinat – Harrell following suit. Full performance from Jonathan Starc, who looks significantly higher quality and, above all, fitter than his predecessor Marcus Carr. The Thessalonians were efficient on the two points and made few mistakes, they used their fouls correctly and achieved the result.
Turk Telecom was badly misled from three-point range, except for Stephen Enoch in the first half and Tyrone Wallace (30 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, but also 5 turnovers) had no one else on a good night and is now find themselves in a difficult situation with regard to their future in the organization.

Marcus Carr has passed away from Mars
Aris got an early divorce from Canadian guard Marcus Carr.
KAE Aris announced its collaboration with Marcus Carr on Thursday (December 14th) at 12:00 p.m. The Canadian guard did not perform as expected despite the time he received from Yannis Kastritis and eventually left Thessaloniki after Jonathan Stark took over.
“We sincerely thank the Canadian guard for his contribution to the team and wish him all the best for the rest of his career.” the team said in its statement.
In 11 games with the Aris jersey in the EuroCup, Carr recorded 7.7 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1 steal and 1.4 turnovers, while in 10 games in the Stoiximan Basket League he recorded 7.4 points, 1 .5 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Tough, efficient and victorious Aris, who caught Lietkambelis 4:7
Aris showed a great performance, defeated Lietkambelis 69:60 and increased to 4:7 after the 11th EuroCup game.
Aris celebrated its fourth win in eleven EuroCup games on Tuesday evening (December 12) when it beat Lietkambelis 69-60 in a terrible derby in Alexandria.
The yellow-blacks (2:3 at home and 2:4 away) did not make up the 10-point lead with which they were defeated in Lithuania (84:74), but are still within reach of qualifying for the next one Thanks to their fighting spirit, they secured victory.
The Lithuanians fell to 4:7 (3:2 at home and 1:5 away), who finished the game with a very poor ratio on two points, had 12 assists for 23 errors and had few players in good shape.
Vassilis Toliopoulos with 16 and Ronnie Harrell with 18 points were the first scorers for the yellow and black, who had Jonathan Stark in the 12 but did not use him. Dimitris Katsivelis was left out.
Former NBA player (with the Detroit Pistons) Davydas Sirvidis led Lietkampelis with 16 points on 3/3 two-pointers, 2/4 three-pointers and 4/5 shots in 29 minutes.
