Cynic Zeljko Obradovic took the blame for everything after Partizan’s surprise EuroCup elimination from Bursaspor, stressing that if the team’s management believes that was the problem then exit is out of the question.

Partizan fell victim to one of the biggest upsets of the year in European basketball after being knocked out by Bursaspor in the EuroCup round of 16 and losing in Belgrade. The shock was great. And Zeljko Obradovic made sure to speak up, take his responsibilities and say things that will be discussed.

I feel sorry for my players and our fans. I take full responsibility for what happened on the field. I won’t go into details” Obradovic initially said, adding: “I think we could have won easily but we didn’t. I take responsibility for what happened in the game. It makes sense since I have experience with them.

I could analyze it, but I won’t. We wasted a year. I came with high expectations, we knew it was a knockout game and we prepared properly. I will always defend my players. I have a great team that works incredibly well. “But that wasn’t enough today and everything starts with me, the coach.”

Obradovic then added: “It was one of the toughest defeats of my career. Apart from the defeat in the cup against Red Star, we had a great season. I know the investments that the President has made. I walked into the dressing room and didn’t know what to say. I didn’t expect this to happen. We still have the Adriatic League to learn our lesson.

Finally, the veteran coach stressed that he would have no problem leaving if he was seen as being in charge of the team’s course: “I came on a three-year contract. If the club is unhappy with my work and thinks someone can do better, I have no problem leaving. So life is. I will analyze them all but we have no choice but to work hard. “If I’m the problem, then I have no problem leaving.”
