Gran Canaria – Prometheus 81-62: Fighter for twenty minutes

Going 24-7 in the third period, Gran Canaria easily defeated Prometheus (81-62) in Game 11 of the EuroCup. At 8:2 the Spaniards, at 2:8 the Patras.

The voyage to the Canary Islands was indeed a difficult mission for Prometheus, made even more difficult when the hosts were stubborn. The good first part of Patras was followed by an outburst from the Spaniards, who turned the game with a score of 24-7 in the third period and took the win with 81-62.

At the top of Group B are Gran Canaria with a record of 8-2, as well as Valencia, who they defeated away and are waiting for the 12th game. At 2-8, Prometheus remains last and continues with the goal of improving through the competition as he has nothing left to claim in this tournament.

Canadian Dylan Ennis, with one tenure in the EuroLeague, was the top of the winners, stepping on the accelerator and cleaning with characteristic comfort at the beginning of the second part. Dario Hunt and Kendrick Ray were the two who stood out from Patras, who finished the game with poor percentages of three points, had more errors than assists and lost legitimately.

The race

The visitors’ good defense gave them confidence, with Hunt and Agravanis going 22-24 and 24-26 respectively midway through the second half before Ray scored a three for his team’s +5. At half-time, the Spaniards had 39% of the two points (9/23), Prometheus a three points in ten attempts, in a game open to any outcome.

A 15-4 part early in the second part gave Gran Canaria the lead, but also by a nine point margin (51-42). Zouros took a time-out, speaking loudly to his players, but instead of improving, the situation deteriorated, leading the 60-45 of the third period to prematurely judge the game. Patras tried to get back into play early in the fourth quarter, but Brusino sent the difference to 13 (67-54 in 35′) with a peat, leaving his opponents no room for a reaction.
