Steph Curry revealed in an interview that he spoke openly with Warriors management about the possibility of bringing Kevin Durant back when the All-Star forward asked to leave the Nets.

Kevin Durant will start the season with the Nets despite doing everything he can to leave. However, for over a month it seemed likely that he would leave. According to Steph Curry, the Warriors were one of the teams considering a move.

The three years 2016-2019 were a dream for the Warriors as they won two (back-to-back) championships (2017, 2018) with Durant in the roster. Much has been said about his departure in the summer of 2019. But according to Curry, Golden State would welcome him with open arms if he came, the team’s star admitted in an interview with Rollin Stone that he spoke to team management about the possibility.

There was a discussion along the lines of, “If he were available, should we?” Every team does that and obviously in our case they reached out and asked me how I felt about it.” Curry first explained before adding: “I didn’t hesitate for a moment. The idea of playing with Durant and knowing him as a person from the three years we’ve been together makes me think he’s a nice guy.”

Curry then wanted to clarify that people don’t know the real Durant: “I think he is misunderstood. Various things have happened to him in his life and have hurt him, which has made him not to trust and feel safe in the people around him. I understand all this because I played with him and I understand him. I love this guy.”

Finally, the Warriors star stressed: “If someone asked me if I would like them to play with him again, I would say “of course”! What would that mean for the team? Anyone who says they don’t want to discuss this without misunderstanding anyone on the team doesn’t know how this thing works. On the other hand, even if we continue with the team we have, I have full confidence in everyone that we can be successful again and win the championship.”
