Mitchell: “I was very close to the Knicks, I’m looking forward to the Cavaliers”
Donovan Mitchell has spoken out for the first time since moving from Jazz to the Cavaliers, saying he was actually close to the Knicks to the point where he thought he’d end up in New York, but is with the Cleveland -Perspective satisfied.
Donovan Mitchell is now a Cavaliers player. He’s already in Cleveland, where he’s been idolized. For a long time, however, he seemed to have believed that … everyone was watching his case: that it would end with the Knicks, but they backed out at the last minute.
“I was very close to the Knicks.” Mitchell added in an interview with ESPN in his first comments since the trade: “I can’t say more but I know more than a lot of people and I was definitely close. I thought I was going to end up with the Knicks. Many groups were heard. But it wasn’t just rumours. I had a feeling it was going to happen and it was just a matter of when, but it didn’t happen.”
In conclusion, however, Mitchell did not hide his excitement at the Cavaliers’ prospects: “I wasn’t upset that I didn’t join the Knicks. I’m ready to join a team that can win and do great things. I’m excited”.
