Chris Paul on NBA and Sarver: “Scared and disappointed”

Chris Paul has taken a stand on the NBA’s punishment of Robert Sarver, taking issue with the league and the owner of the struggling Suns.

The NBA’s punishment of Robert Sarver (1-year ban and $10 million fine) with allegations of misogyny, sexism and racism triggered a tsunami of reactions in the world’s top flight as it was considered a caress. LeBron James has officially spoken about it. Immediately afterwards, however, Chris Paul also took a stand, which is all the more important since he is the leader of the Suns, Sarver’s team.

In a post on his official Twitter account, Paul attacked the league’s decision, but also – without naming him – Sarver, who, among other things, described the behavior of the Suns’ owner as “terrible”.

At length, Paul wrote: “How many I saw the report. I was and am appalled and disappointed by what I read. This behavior, especially towards women, is unacceptable and must not be repeated.

I believe the sanctions imposed have failed to demonstrate what I think we all agree was appalling behavior. My heart goes out to the people affected.”

It remains to be seen what will become of Paul’s remark, given that the man signing the checks due is … Sarver. However, the fact that the Players Association President – who has been President for 8 years – has spoken publicly on the subject says a lot about where he draws the line himself.
