The Pelicans appear enthusiastic about Zion Williamson’s work over the summer, with his personal trainer reporting double training sessions that began with the explosive 5am wake-up call.

Zion Williamson is in for a big season that will see him provide answers. This can be understood from the information provided by his personal trainer Juster Bibbs in an interview with “The Athletic”.

The Biebs praised the Pelicans star with testimonies about the work he’s done, first noting:He is in fantastic physical condition. He is dedicated to the work and does so every day. I am proud of him and what he has achieved. He’s a better athlete than he was.”

Biebs then elaborated on how the pair worked over the summer: “No one can improve that much at that age unless they work hard. Engaged daily throughout the summer. He woke up at 5am for practice and then we had a second practice at 7pm. it was crucial for him to understand the plan we had.”

Finally, the Pelicans star coach highlighted where Williamson has improved: “He has tremendous boost and the ability to change direction, which is a result of his improved body control and training. It’s rare for anyone to have such control over their body.

What we wanted was for him to be able to handle that power that he puts out when he’s jumping, when he’s running, and most importantly, when he’s changing direction. That means he had to slow down a bit and then move explosively without sacrificing speed, but in a safe way.”

Williamson, it will be recalled, signed an early contract extension over the summer, with the Pelicans including a weight stipulation to ensure he remains constant. Which they seem to have taken care of – at least in the first place.
