Simmons: ‘Sixers fans are great, but in Philly everyone has a say about…everything’
Ben Simmons gave an interview and referring to the Sixers, he pointed out that their fans are great, but everyone in the city of Philadelphia… has something to say about everything.
Ben Simmons looks ahead. But he’s not forgetting the Sixers, letting him leave Philadelphia in the middle of the 2021-22 season after previously refusing to wear the team’s jersey until he was traded to the Nets.
Speaking on former Sixers teammate and current commentator JJ Reddick’s podcast, the Aussie guard had some good things to say about Philadelphia, along with some… not-so-good things.
“People in Philadelphia just want to say something about… everything. Literally for everything. I accidentally uploaded a photo of a car and a reporter came up in the comments and texted me to go to practice.” Simmons initially explained but then added:
“Philadelphia is a sports city. My experience was amazing for the most part. Playing there was amazing. I had a great time and the teammates are great. I still have a house in Philadelphia. I feel part of her.”
Concluding, Simmons added: “You are special in Philadelphia. It’s very different in Brooklyn, a different experience. I appreciate the time I spent in Philadelphia because I learned and matured in this city. I have friends there, my brother lives there. I have family there. Philadelphia is great, people just thought I hate it.”
