The incredible LeBron Wade story of Kobe’s brutal foul on Gasol at the Olympics

A new VIDEO has been released with upcoming Netflix documentary Redeem Team showing LeBron James and Dwyane Wade reminiscing about Kobe Bryant telling them he was going to foul Pau Gasol in the first half of the game against Spain to to send a message.

Netflix is putting the finishing touches on The Redeem Team, a documentary about Team USA winning the gold medal at the Beijing 2008 Olympics as the USA returned to the top of the world. The documentary will air on October 7th. A… teaser is always necessary. Especially when it comes to Kobe Bryant.

With less than two weeks until the documentary airs, Netflix has uploaded a 2.5 minute VIDEO in which LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony talk about Kobe Bryant. Basically not just about Kobe, but a harsh foul he suffered on then-Lakers teammate Pau Gasol in the group stage game against Spain that sends the message he’s not kidding.

“Kobe said he wants to set the tone early in the game. “I’m going to run over Pau’s frigging chest,” he told us. LeBron says before Wade adds: “In the first phase of the race I will compete against Pau. And we thought… what’s he saying?” Then LeBron takes the baton again and says, “man… her dreamer. He’s your teammate. You won’t do that.” Next it’s Wade’s turn again to say: “Kobe told us that “in the first phase of the game I know what system Spain will play”. He knew Pau would do the last screen. And he says, ‘I’m going to fall on that man’s chest.’ Then finally with LeBron: “I swear he did that in the first period of the game. And we’re in a phase… oh sh…ta. He did it”.

Comments followed from Pau Gaol as well as Chris Bosh and Carmelo Anthony on this particular phase, all agreeing that Kobe just wanted to get his message across to everyone at this time. And that’s exactly what he did in a phase that went down in history.
