Omer Yurtseven explained why he said ‘no’ to Turkey and Ergin Ataman in the summer
Omer Yurtseven’s decision to forgo services in Turkey for EuroBasket 2022 has put him in the crosshairs. For the first time, the 24-year-old center was placed in this regard.
Shortly before the start of the EuroBasket 2022, Ergin Ataman spoke to Sportish and attacked Omer Yurtseven for preferring to do individual training in the summer than to strengthen the state representation.
“I think that some agents from the United States who invest in this particular athlete affected him very badly. Omer came and played in the July “windows” without any problems. But two days before the start of the preparation, the agent sent him a message that the player wants to work individually to improve and be ready for next season with the miami heat so that’s all mal*** mal*** I consider them “among other things” had the National coach indicated by Turkey.
For the first time, Omer Yurtseven wanted to defend himself and explain how the situation was from his own point of view. What bothered him the most during the off-season and caused Turkey to be absent from pre-season?
“I need to reduce my body fat percentage. If I’m successful, I’ll be more agile. I’ve been working on this part all summer, especially the side steps. Muscles aren’t just for lifting weights. They also affect running and similar attributes. So that’s what I focused on: flexibility” He told the Sun Sentinel about his work over the summer before being asked about the decision not to put Turkey in the EuroBasket: “It was a summer where I had to focus and be ready. And I did“.
