Several NBA stars have already come out of the San Antonio Spurs’ “The Factory,” which includes a trip from the G-League to Austin’s ultimate league significance. Dejounte Murray, now an All-Star, is the latest case. And San Antonio is hoping Keldon Johnson is next.

The 22-year-old forward (turns 23 at the beginning of October) is growing step by step in the NBA, without standing still or going backwards. Last season he averaged 17 points and 6 rebounds per game and, for example, showed significant improvement with his three-point shooting: 39.8% success in more than five attempts per match.

Johnson is not very tall, but he has a incredible power which makes him stand out when playing near the rim. We will have to see how he solves his game in this season where Spurs do not have great playmakers. Or will he become himself?

The story ahead for the San Antonio Spurs in the 2022-2023 season

NBA Entertainment

The main target of the San Antonio Spurs this season seems to be Victor Wenbanyama or any other standout player from the 2023 Draft. This while the Texan franchise continues to develop, without rushing them, their various young projects such as eccentric Jeremy Sohan as a last purchase.

Spurs have a team with 11 players aged 23 and under they could easily still be in college, and only four men on the franchise have more than five seasons of NBA experience. The only two members of the roster with more than 500 NBA games? Gorgui Dieng and Doug McDermott.

That says a lot about San Antonio’s present, very different from what it was used to during two decades of success. But while they watch the next Draft, the Spurs don’t lose sight of the day-to-day business, because that’s where they stand out.
