CHARLOTE, NC – The Toronto Raptors’ Pascal Shiakam was named NBA Player of the Week in the East on Monday.

The 27-year-old Cameroonian helped his team stay undefeated in four matches (in five nights).

Shiakam averaged 24.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 4.8 assists.

In addition, he averaged 40.1 minutes during the week.

On Friday, against the Hawks, Shiakam collected 33 points in his team’s victory with 125-114.

For the entire season, Shiakam scored 21.4 points per game, very close to the Raptors’ leader at this level, Fred VanVlitt (21.6).

Shiakam leads the team with 8.6 rebounds, on average.

Toronto put him in 27th place overall in 2016.

Undefeated in their last five games, the Raptors (28-23) are in sixth place in the East, advancing to Monday night’s game in Charlotte.

The Hornets (28-26) are also fighting for this position, along with Brooklyn and Boston. The Hornets have lost their last four meetings.

The Raptors’ next two games are in Oklahoma City and Houston on Wednesday and Thursday.

LaMelo Ball of the Hornets got its name in the All-Star Game on Monday.

He and Dejounte Murray of the San Antonio Spurs will replace the injured Kevin Durant and Draymond Green.

The annual classic will take place on February 20, in Cleveland. Ball and Murray will be there for the first time in their careers.

Ball is ahead of the Hornets with 7.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He was the rookie of the year last season.

This season, Ball is second in the club with 19.6 points per game (Miles Bridges scored 19.7).

Durand has missed the last 12 games of the Nets due to a left knee injury.

Green has lost the last 14 Warriors games with back pain.

Durant and LeBron James are the leaders of the All-Star Game.

They will announce their choices on Thursday.

VanVleet will represent the Raptors in the game.

Scottie Barnes and Precious Achiuwa, also of the Raptors, will be in the Rising Stars mini-tournament on February 18.
