Damn Batiste, he almost put up with a Wizards fan
Mike Batiste, who is now an assistant coach with the Wizards, starred with the Heat in a strange scene in the finals of the game after he went on the podium and nearly fell into the hands of a fan of his team cursing the Washington bench.
Mike Batiste went viral in the US. The former Panathinaikos player, who now works as an assistant coach with the Wizards, couldn’t stand hearing a Washington fan constantly swearing in the game against the Heat (121-100 win for Miami) and did something you could not often sees he drove to the podium and almost came to terms with him!
The scene happened seconds before the end of the game, when the Wizards fan arguably overstepped the bounds with his comments when the camera caught Batiste getting up off the Washington bench and striding toward him menacingly. Luckily for everyone, Montrezel Harel was close to Batiste, who rushed to get to the center and then escort the current Wizards assistant to the dressing room so things didn’t get worse.
“I didn’t see the whole scene. As far as I know, one or more fans got away with it. “Of course we shouldn’t react like that, but I think something was said that irritated one of our coaches, but in any case there shouldn’t be a reaction like that.” said Wizards coach Wes Anseld after the game, describing the scene.
For the record, this isn’t the first time this year that Wizards fans have escaped. In fact, there were several scenes where one or more of them had to leave the safety of the stadium after saying they couldn’t take the image of their team.
