Key player for the Minnesota Timberwolves
After seven seasons of projects around Karl-Anthony Towns, the Timberwolves look increasingly determined to turn the franchise around. The reason is justified and has its own name: Anthony Edwards. The No. 1 pick in the 2020 Draft has proven in a very short amount of time that he is one of the great offensive talents of his generation. A player with unlimited evolution ability that appears once every decade.
Ant’ is coming off a 21.3 point average in 72 games to be exact 51.9% of two and 35.7% of three, a notable step forward from its initial run (48.3% and 32.9% respectively). Just turning 21, Edwards has shown signs of being more than just a scorer and is slowly shedding the one-dimensional image he entered the NBA with. His next step will necessarily come from being more creative on the ball and engaging Towns and Gobert more. There the Frenchman will be fundamental because he is one of the best offensive blockers in the entire league.
If you’re looking for one name to make an All-Star debut this season, it’s undoubtedly Anthony Edwards. Beyond this value, Ant’ has a very important path ahead since the playoffs are taken for granted and what makes the difference will be how far they go after the moves made.
Minnesota Timberwolves story to follow in 2022-2023
Of all the teams that have undertaken major operations during this out of season none raises more questions than the Timberwolves. And it’s not least because Minnesota made one of the transfers with the most Draft picks in the modern era, which could leave them without a First Round pick until 2029. A massive trade aimed at taking Rudy Gobert, a player who was always treated well by advanced stats, but didn’t always carry him to the playoffs.
The Frenchman is the big bet of the Wolves management, who felt that the best way to break the barrier of the first round of the postseason is to take over the French giant. But the franchise’s moves didn’t end there after they were done with Kyle Anderson, a right defenseman who should noticeably improve his outside line.
Minny’s idea is to raise his defensive level, but also to move Towns to the open four so he can focus on the outside attack without carrying five responsibilities. A successful idea and an idea that should work… normal period. The fusion of Russell-Townes-Gobert It sounds fantastic when you think about the time of the Regular Phase, but when the Playoffs begin, it’s hard to imagine they can go very far.
