Fred VanVlitt made history, becoming the first undrafted to get drafted
The only NBA player to be drafted despite not being drafted is now Fred VanVlit, making his own story in a league that offers opportunities and vindicates those who work hard.
Fred VanVlit has a very special premiere since the early hours of Friday morning (11/2). The 27-year-old Toronto Raptors guard is now the only undrafted draft in NBA history and if what you’ve just read doesn’t make sense, we’ll explain it in simple terms.
VanVlit, who this year has 21.6 points (44.5% on two points, 39.7% on three points, 87.3% on shots), 4.6 rebounds, 7.1 assists and 1.7 steals per 38 .6 minutes in 48 games entered the league undrafted when No One opted to do so in 2016. From 7.9 minutes in 37 games in his rookie year to this year’s 38.6, the highest in the league, The former Gutsita State University player went through many stages, became champion and now has a special premiere.
LeBron James selected him for his team at the 2022 All-Star Game Draft, making VanBlit the first drafted despite being in the process of a showdown with the NBA’s top athletes every year.
