Irving and Durant bent the unlikely Siakam
With Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant tied for 57 points, the Nets pulled off a hard-fought 109-105 win over the sensational Pascal Siakam’s Raptors, who finished the game with 37 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.
Pascal Siakam gave his all against the Nets in Brooklyn. That wasn’t enough for the Raptors, however, as the Nets had more weapons and won 109-105, improving their record to 1-1.
Kyrie Irving with 30 points and Kevin Durant with 27 points led the Nets, with Nick Claxton adding 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks. The most important basket of the game, however, was scored by Royce O’Neal, who scored 15 seconds before the end of the final with a three-pointer to make it 108:104.
For the Raptors, Pascal Siakam was all the money with 37 points (15/21), 12 rebounds and 11 assists, with Fred VanVleet adding 18 points and Scotty Barnes adding 17 points.
Game-wise, this was a derby at its longest, with the Raptors temporarily leading 69-79 late in the third period. But the Nets responded with a 17-0 run to pull away 86-79 while later hitting +12 (100-88). A 12-0 run by the Canadians leveled the game again, allowing O’Neill to speak at the end.
