Facundo Campacho manager David Caro spoke about all the offers the Argentine guard has had from Europe and America in recent months, but also how he ended up in Dallas.

One of Facundo Campacho’s two managers, David Caro, gave a very interesting interview to Argentine outlet Basquet Plus, in which he revealed which teams in America and Europe the short guard spoke to before eventually signing with the Dallas Mavericks.

The problem in the beginning is that the market was pretty uneven. Faku told us the NBA is his first, second, and third priority. Europe finished fourth. There were several interesting offers from several teams, but Durant and Irving’s trade request put everything on hold. Nothing happened for almost two months and the wait was unbearable.

Then it went up again. The Golden State Warriors awaited Iguodala’s decision if he left Campacho. We spoke to the Lakers 20 times, but in the end they chose Schröder.

Then came the Mavericks. There was a payroll and luxury tax issue, but Jason Kidd asked for a player for a month and GM Nico Harrison was confident Campacho was the player they wanted and needed. Luka Doncic, the team’s superstar, obviously knew what Campazzo had to offer.

There were other things that we were interested in, like what role he would play and if the team had any playoff hopes, we didn’t want just any team.”he reported on the background of his move to Dallas.

Regarding the suggestions Campacho had from Europe, Caro remarked: “In Europe, Real Madrid have the right to accept any offer. Facundo Campacho, at the level he is at, can only talk to five teams in Europe based on the budget they have. And we all know very well who they are.”

With all due respect, what has been written about Partizan makes no sense. We never got in touch. But we spoke to those five teams and all the general managers said that if Campacho ends up with a competitor, their team loses a 40 percent chance of winning the EuroLeague.”
