It took just six games into his 14th NBA season DeMar DeRozan reach another major milestone.

With the Chicago Bulls visiting his former team, the San Antonio Spurs, DeRozan entered the night just seven points short of becoming the 50th player in NBA history to score 20,000 career points.

DeRozan hit the milestone with his trademark: a mid-range shot.

In just his second season with the Bulls, the Chicago crowd quickly fell in love with DeRozan, who has been a fan favorite on every team in his career.

DeMar DeRozan’s numbers to reach 20,000 points

Chicago is the third stop of DeRozan’s professional career. After being selected by Toronto in the 2009 NBA draft, DeRozan spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Raptors before being traded to San Antonio, where he spent three seasons.

  • Spurs – 4,455 points
  • Bulls – 2,242 points (until before the game against the Spurs)

As mentioned above, DeRozan is now one of 50 NBA players to score 20,000 or more career points. 34 of those 50 players have been inducted into the Hall of Fame.

As for the other 16:

  • 10 are still active or not officially retired.
  • 4 not yet eligible for the Hall of Fame (Dirk Nowitzki, Vince Carter, Dwyane Wade and Pau Gasol)

With DeRozan continuing to play at an All-Star level, the three-time All-NBA selection strengthens his case for the Hall of Fame once he retires.
