Tony Parker: “It’s a shame we can’t keep young players in Europe”
Tony Parker appears to be at odds with the selection of young European players entering the draft without previous caps and high-level performances in the old continent.
Veteran basketball player and current Villerman president Tony Parker spoke in an interview with L’Equipe about the mass exodus of young talent from France and, by extension, Europe to the United States and the NBA.
“The NBA draft means nothing these days. Young players are selected for potential that may not ultimately show. You used to have to have two or three good years in college or be selected at the highest level in Europe.
Yes, it’s… too bad we can’t keep the players in France or Europe. Of course, I understand that money is a lot in the US. But there are 400 active players in the NBA and 60 new ones every year, so it’s best to prepare.
It’s hard to resist the power of money. But the young players should be smart and come to the NBA at the right time when they have enough experience.”
