What seemed like a matter of time ended up becoming official this Tuesday, November 1st: The Brooklyn Nets fired Steve Nashending an era marked by disappointments, back-and-forths with the team’s stars and on-field mishaps.
The very bad start of 2022-2023, with note 2-5, finished by forcing the Nets’ decision. Nash’s last game was a win, but Even that 116-109 win over Indiana left very negative feelingswith a team without a defined direction and far from its aspirations of being competitive in the Eastern Conference.
you made it to the team for 2020-2021 and closes his first stage as a coach with a record 94 wins and 67 losses in 161 matchesbut a poor 7-9 playoff record (with just one win in two years).

It’s also worth remembering that the relationship with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving had been off for months. Especially with a KD who had asked for Nash and GM Sean Marks to be fired on the condition that he stay with the franchise. And while Brooklyn kept the coach in place at the time, these early weeks of the season are fulfilling Durant’s wish.
Who will replace Nash as coach of the Nets?
In the first place, Jack Vaughan, who led the Nets at the end of the 2019-2020 season: a record of 7-3 in the Regular Season and 0-4 in the Playoffs. Vaughn will lead the team this Tuesday against the Chicago Bulls, though according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Brooklyn will look to names like Ime Udoka (Boston would open the door for him to leave) and Quin Snyder for a long time.
Currently, Udoka’s name would be the one with the biggest picks in his favor and the signing could be finalized in the next few hours.
Floating Celtics coach Ime Udoka has emerged as the likely next head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, and his hiring could be finalized as soon as the next 24 to 48 hours, sources tell ESPN. The Celtics will let him go for another job.

The Nets are currently the the worst defense in the NBAallowing 119.6 points per 100 possessions and showing 27th in Net Rating (-6.4 per 100 possessions). outside Individual talent from Durant and Irving, the group showed little or nothing in collective terms, other than a deterioration of chemistry between its pieces. Rightfully so the exact opposite of what the Canadian was as a player and possibly why the Nets sought him out in the first place.
What did Steve Nash say after leaving the Brooklyn Nets?
