Unexpected ending with drama. Mavericks lead Mavericks just 105-101 with three and a half minutes left in the game: Toronto is surging with a released Barnes closing in on a triple-double and everyone is suffering in Dallas.
Toronto is back in the game. Without Siakam, the Raptors suddenly seem to have found their best game again: a 13-4 run that they are now just two possessions away, trailing 100-94 with seven minutes left. Scottie Barnes is finally making his impact, acting as his team’s playmaker.

Scotty Barnes is missing in action. The Raptors definitely need more from Scottie Barnes, especially with VanVleet out. Barnes has yet to put up a point, is 0-5 from the field and doesn’t play a role on defense either. 82-68 for the Mavericks with 4:35 left in the third quarter.
Great start for the Mavericks in the second half. Dallas 11-0 in the first three minutes of the second half: now up 73-57 against an opponent that looks frustrated on offense and has allowed a lot of drives in this start. Doncic already has 25 points, on track to continue his 30-plus game streak.
Dallas extends its lead at halftime. The Mavericks are up 62-57 after halftime in a game in which they have been outplayed by Toronto and have 16 points from Doncic, 12 from Dinwiddie and 21 points from the second unit. Toronto is more dependent on Siakam (17 points and 3 assists) than the three-pointers of Anunoby, who adds 14 points.

Doncic comes back in a tight match. Dallas’ advantage reached eight points with Luka rested, but in a few possessions it was cut by Toronto with better ball movement, and now Dallas just won 48-46 after 3-pointers by Anunoby and Porter.
Bigger difference than Dallas bank. With Doncic rested, the Mavericks opened the second quarter on a 7-2 run: Toronto continues to miss comfortable shots while the Mavericks give Green and McGee clear opportunities to add. 38-31 for Dallas.

Givesllas took the first trimester. The Mavericks win 31-29 with a Doncic getting his points from the free throw line: he already has 14 points, going 7-7 from the line. The second unit worked, with Kleber’s defense and 3-pointers from Hardaway and Green. Toronto dominates rebounding but hasn’t found the outside shot and is hard to attack in the middle.
The Raptors defend and escape. In defense is the strength of Toronto and in knowing how to take advantage of the counterattacks that are created. Partial 6-0 for the Canadians who now lead 21-17 despite their 0-8 three-pointers.
Luka Doncic and another promising start. Luka already has six points after the first five minutes of the game, while Dallas wins 16-13. Siakam opposite adds the same amount: an interesting duel between two of the best players of the early season.
